Job Title: Residential Estate General Manager

Job Summary:
The Residential Estate General Manager (GM) will be responsible for the overall management and operation of a private residential estate. This role requires a highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented individual to ensure the seamless day-to-day functioning of the property. The GM will oversee staff, manage maintenance, and handle all aspects of estate operations, ensuring that the estate runs smoothly and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of service and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Property Management: Oversee the general maintenance, cleanliness, and upkeep of the estate, including the grounds, buildings, and other facilities. Ensure that all systems (HVAC, security, plumbing, etc.) are functioning optimally.
- Staff Management: Hire, train, and supervise estate staff, including housekeeping, maintenance, security, gardeners, and other personnel. Schedule and assign duties, ensuring excellent performance and high levels of satisfaction.
- Budget and Financial Management: Develop and manage the estate’s budget, track expenses, and ensure efficient use of resources. Handle payroll, invoicing, and financial reporting as needed.
- Vendor and Contractor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, such as landscapers, cleaning services, and maintenance providers. Negotiate contracts and ensure all services are delivered in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Event, Restaurant and Guest Coordination: Plan and oversee events on the estate, including a focus on golf events, private gatherings, parties, and family functions. Ensure guest needs are met and the estate is prepared for events with no disruptions to normal operations.
- Security and Safety: Oversee security measures and protocols to ensure the safety and privacy of the estate’s residents. Regularly review security systems, emergency plans, and safety procedures.
- Communication and Reporting: Serve as the main point of contact for the estate owner(s) or board of directors, providing regular updates on the estate’s condition, operations, and any issues that need addressing.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure that all estate operations comply with local laws and regulations, including zoning laws, environmental standards, and safety regulations.
- Special Projects: Manage special projects as assigned by the estate owner(s), which may include home improvements, landscaping, or other estate enhancements.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in management
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in hiring, training, and performance management.
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities, with a focus on detail and quality.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse range of people.
- Proficiency in computer software and other relevant tools.
- Knowledge of estate operations, maintenance, and vendor management.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working in a private or luxury estate environment.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and eco-friendly estate management.
- Familiarity with security systems and emergency preparedness protocols.
